Editorial Workflow
All papers submitted to GUJES undergo a peer-review process. This process begins with an initial assessment by the editorial department, followed by a check by the editor-in-chief to evaluate the paper's suitability in terms of topic, wording, and originality. At this stage, specialized software is used to detect plagiarism.
After passing this stage, the paper is forwarded to the editor of the relevant section, who selects reviewers specialized in the field of research. If advanced statistical techniques are used, a statistician may be involved to evaluate the methodology. The journal adopts a Double-Blind Review system, where both the author and the reviewers remain anonymous.
The reviewers assess the quality of the paper and its contribution to the discipline, and make recommendations for improvement. Based on the reviewers’ comments and the section editor’s input, the editor-in-chief makes the final decision on whether to accept or reject the paper, indicating whether major or minor modifications are required.
If major changes are needed, the paper will be returned to the reviewers upon resubmission. Minor changes, however, will be reviewed by the section editor alone.
The first round of peer review is expected to take 4 to 8 weeks. Based on the outcome, the author is asked to resubmit the revised version within one month (for minor revisions) or three months (for major revisions). After resubmission, the revised version is re-evaluated, and the author is informed of the final decision within four weeks.
If the paper is accepted, authors are required to pay the publication fee (if applicable). Accepted articles are officially published within four weeks from the date of final acceptance.
At the initial stage of submission, authors are required to provide the following:
- Article metadata: This includes the names of all authors, their institutional affiliations, keywords, and other relevant information.
- A non-identifiable version of the manuscript: This version must exclude any identifying information. It should include the full text of the article along with tables and figures, but it does not need to be in its final publication-ready format.
After final acceptance of the article, authors must upload the full text of the article in an editable format (e.g., Word).
Once the article is finalized and proofread, the publication process includes:
- Publishing the article on the journal’s website.
- Assigning a permanent Digital Object Identifier (DOI) to the published article
Journal Policies
1. Editorial Policy
The publication of scientific research in peer-reviewed journals is a cornerstone in the advancement and exchange of knowledge. GUJES Scientific Journal is committed to the highest ethical and behavioural standards in the publishing process. All parties involved—authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher—must adhere to the principles of integrity and transparency.
Submitted manuscripts must not have been previously published, in whole or in part, in any citable medium, including preprint servers, and must not be under consideration by any other journal.
Authors are responsible for ensuring that the manuscript does not violate intellectual property rights or copyrights, and that all submitted material is either original or used with explicit legal permission. The journal reserves the right to take appropriate actions in case of policy violations, including rejecting or retracting the article.
2. Copyright and Open Access Policy
- GUJES is an open-access journal, meaning all published articles are freely available for reading and download without financial charges for authors, readers, or institutions. This policy promotes broad dissemination of scientific knowledge.
- The journal adopts the Creative Commons Attribution International License (CC BY 4.0), allowing authors to retain copyright and enabling users to:
- Download and print articles.
- Reuse and extract content.
- Archive articles in institutional or digital repositories.
- Distribute or cite the content, provided that proper credit is given to the original author(s) and source.
- This license ensures wide accessibility and facilitates integration into global databases and repositories, increasing visibility and citation impact for researchers.
3. Peer Review Policy
All manuscripts submitted to GUJES undergo a double-blind peer review process to ensure the quality of published research and the neutrality of the scientific evaluation.
- Each manuscript is referred to two specialized reviewers in the relevant subject, selected based on their academic expertise.
- The reports of all reviewers are taken into consideration when making the decision regarding acceptance, revision request, or rejection of the manuscript.
- The Editor-in-Chief bears the responsibility of making the final decision on publication, based on the recommendations of the reviewers and relevant editors.
- In some cases, the Editor-in-Chief may seek the opinion of members of the journal's Scientific Advisory Board before making the final decision on the manuscript.
- Both assistant editors and review editors provide administrative and technical support to ensure the peer review process proceeds with integrity, transparency, and efficiency.
- In case the authors object to a rejection decision, they have the right to submit a repeated memorandum to appeal the decision, and – upon the Editor-in-Chief’s discretion – the manuscript may be sent to a third independent reviewer. The decision resulting from this stage is considered final.
4.Authorship Policy
GUJES upholds transparency and accuracy in determining scientific contribution. Only individuals who have made substantial intellectual and scientific contributions in:
- Study design and implementation,
- Data analysis and interpretation,
- Writing or critically reviewing the manuscript,
should be listed as co-authors, and all must approve the final version for submission.
-Corresponding Author:
One author is designated to coordinate with the journal and serve as the official contact post-publication.
-Acknowledgments:
Non-author contributors (technical, administrative, financial, etc.) should be recognized in the acknowledgments section.
Author Order & Responsibility:
Order should reflect contribution magnitude. All listed authors share joint responsibility for the manuscript content. Changes to authorship post-submission are only allowed with a justified request signed by all authors.
